Towing an EV? Tell dispatch before the truck arrives.

Why the model, battery condition, and manufacturer instructions matter.

Identify the exact vehicle

Give dispatch the year, make, and model and say that it is electric or hybrid. Explain whether it has a discharged battery, a collision, locked wheels, or another problem. Towing needs are vehicle-specific.

Follow manufacturer instructions

AAA notes that EVs generally need flatbed towing to avoid damage associated with wheels turning during transport. The owner’s manual is the reference for your model’s approved transport procedure. Dispatch must confirm compatible equipment; do not assume every towing method is suitable.

Describe access and condition

Tell dispatch about low clearance, parking-garage height, missing keys, and whether the vehicle can roll or steer. Avoid attempting to release brakes or move a damaged battery vehicle yourself. Call emergency services for fire, smoke, or immediate danger.

Plan the destination

Confirm whether the vehicle should go to a suitable charger, dealership, or repair facility. Our fuel-delivery service is not EV charging. Discuss the destination and quote before authorizing the tow.
